The #WeTheCivic Narrative Partnerships Fund
The Challenge
Democracy won’t be built in a day. Neither will the narrative infrastructure to defend it.
The nonprofit sector employs 12 million Americans. It represents 5.6% of GDP. Yet nonprofit stories are fragmented, undervalued, or made invisible.
Journalism, nonprofits, and multiracial democracy are under attack. #WeTheCivic is fighting back. But real narrative power requires sustained investment.
Your Impact
We’re running a small dollar and foundation campaign to fund the #WeTheCivic Narrative Partnerships Fund to build durable narrative infrastructure and coalitions for the nonprofit sector to defend and advance civic storytelling and journalism that can weather political storms, defend democracy, and drive generational change.
Every single dollar will go to:
Local Newsroom Support: Partnerships with local and community newsrooms to amplify their work on a national platform across America 250 and beyond.
Frontline Nonprofit Storytelling: Paying at least 100 new frontline nonprofit workers, activists, artists, and organizers equitable wages to share their first-person #WeStoodUp stories
Nonprofit Sector Solutions Journalism: Producing monthly longform and solutions journalism by and about the nonprofit sector
Digital Security: Pairing nonprofit workers and democracy leaders publishing their stories with digital security to prevent doxxing.
Accessible Opportunities: Spanish-language, audio, and ASL translations of webinars and articles
