About #WeTheCivic
#WeTheCivic: America 250 is rooted in collective, community partnerships that name and claim that we are the authors of the history, the present, and the future of “American” narratives and democracy.
We are actively seeking coalition partners, including nonprofit organizations, advocacy networks, independent newsrooms, narrative funders, and organizers of all backgrounds who believe multiracial democracy's story belongs to everyone, and the authoring of it .
Our goal is to spread the stories, impact, and celebration of the nonprofit sector workers, organizations, activists and funders doing democracy’s daily work this America 250 season.

The #WeTheCivic Newsroom Network
A cross-sector coalition of independent media organizations, nonprofit newsrooms, and civic institutions have committed to publishing stories of local nonprofits defending democracy and impacting their communities on or around July 4, 2026.
The network will be explicitly designed to ensure this is a national journalism movement, not a coastal or urban one, available through the written word, radio, or video. NPQ will commit to republishing and amplifying local and independent newsroom and narrative platform coverage of #WeTheCivic stories
